I need to lose about 25 lbs, so I’m obviously looking for something that burns a good amount of calories. I have a treadmill, but jogging tends to bother some of my joints, not to mention I’m terrible at it! So instead I try to walk at a very high incline at a decent speed, but it just gets so dull (our treadmill is a bit too loud for watching tv).
I’ve used recumbent bikes before and I do enjoy them – I find it much easier to watch tv or read at the same time, and I feel like I’m getting a decent workout. I also think rowing machines look like they might be fun, but I’ve never used one. The lateral stepper looks like it might be tons of fun… or just really painful!
Of the three, which is more fun… or at least less boring?
Which burns the most calories/hr?
Which tones/What do each machine tone?
Any personal opinions on the machines is also appreciated

Or does this only apply to weight machines and non-aerobic exercises?
I work out MWF… and would like to do some sort of exercise the rest of the week.
