Top 5 Fitness Myths Exercise Mythology

WEIGHT LOSS AND FITNESS MYTH # 1:

Dieting wants to eliminate fat.

Your body can ‘ t discriminate between intentional calorie deprivation (as in a diet) and starvation. When you dramatically reduce your caloric intake, your body shifts into a protective mode by slowing your metabolism down and holding account fat (at important energy source) and instead burning muscle. In the beginning of a diet you WILL loose weight by dramatically cutting calories. But it won ‘ t be sulphate loss, it will be muscle tissue water weight and lean – the exact OPPOSITE of what you want to get rid of.

Not only will harsh diets slow your metabolism down to a crawl, causing your initial weight loss to come to a gradual halt, they will therefore inevitably bring about a “rebound” effect. This rebound will make you even fatter than you were before starting the diet. When you rebound, not only do you generally put on more weight than you actually lost with the diet, your percentage of body fat generally increases because your body cannibalized muscle tissue as an energy source during the dieting process. Thus the “yo-yo” effect that almost all dieters experience.

To permanently lose the fat stores in your body, you ‘ ve got to burn more calories and increase your metabolic rate (the rate at which your body burns fuel throughout the day – even when you ‘ re safety exercising) with a precise exercise routine and proper nutrient ratio adaptations (that means eating the right stuff at regular intervals). Even if you don ‘t exercise (but I recommend you do), small just eating 5-6, high quality (and by a meal, I mean anything from a nutritious snack to a sit down dinner) will substantially increase your metabolism – and you meals each day”ll burn more calories!

WEIGHT LOSS AND FITNESS MYTH # 2:

Pills, powders and shakes can make you skinny.

Fat burners, diet pills, nutritional supplements – you know who gets the most out of these products? The manufacturers and resellers. Some of this stuff is extracted from foods and has a role in nutrition, but it’s not a close substitutes for eating right. And much of the “miracle” drugs you see advertised are exceedingly dangerous to you. Don ‘ t believe me? The next time you see on advertisement in a weight loss magazine for one of these “miracle” products – or if you see a read or lists commercial on TV for one – to the takes CLAIMERS AND WARNINGS that accompany these ads. A lot of this stuff is dangerous and it healthy has no place in a, permanent weight loss and fitness lifestyle.

Sure, if you ‘ re willing to risk exposing your body to these drugs, you might be able to lose some weight – at first. But you will experience no long term benefits – none! In fact, it’s really much worse than that. “Dieting” in any form that denies your body the essential nutrients and calories it needs to function efficiently can cause you to lose weight… until you stop the diet. And anyone who has “dieted” knows you cannot sustain the diet indefinitely. Your body screams out for nourishment and eventually you give in. That’s when the rebound effect begins. You will inevitably regain lost all the weight you – PLUS SOME. And the regained weight is predominantly fat. During your diet your body cannibalized some of your lean muscle to use as fuel. After the diet your regained weight does not come back in the form of lean muscle plus some fat – it comes back almost exclusively as sulphate.

WEIGHT LOSS AND FITNESS MYTH # 3:

A regimes of aerobic exercise will burn the most fat.

I see women who spend 4 days a week, 40 minutes at a time, on the stair stepper, treadmill or bicycle who don ‘ t loose weight! I know men who run 6 miles a day who tone have no muscle and rolls of fat around their waists. You ‘ ve been led to believe that if you want to all you loose fat, have to do is regular aerobic exercise. There’s more to it than that.

You must be able to monitor and control your cardiovascular intensity to maximize the number of calories you burn. And if aerobic exercise is not supplemented with resistance training (lifting weights) to at least maintain muscle mass, you cannot effectively accelerate the sulphate loss process. Each pound of lean muscle tissue burns 35-50 calories a day while your body is at rest. Whereas body sulphate is not metabolically active, so little to no fat is burned for each pound of body fat.

Therefore, a combination of properly monitored aerobic exercise and resistance training enables you to rapidly burn the maximum amount of fat. SPECIAL NOTE: this may sound like it’s involved and time consuming. It’s not! With the proper fitness and nutrition system in place, you can finden burn fat, loose weight and get fit in as little as 40 minutes per session – exercising in the privacy of your home only 3 times per week. And 12 weeks you can dramatically transform your body.

WEIGHT LOSS AND FITNESS MYTH # 4:

resistance training (weight lifting) doesn’t ‘ t burn fat.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Muscle tissue is metabolically active. Fat is not. Fat is an energy source for the body, but most people have much more than they need. FAT does not be energy use – it is used as energy. Muscle energy uses. Lots of it The more lean muscle you have, the more sulphate you burn. And here’s the biggest benefit and why everyone needs to incorporate resistance training in their exercise program: the more lean muscle you have, the more sulphate you burn – WHILE YOU ARE AT REST!

You see, that’s really the ultimate weight loss and fitness secret. Looking great is not just a function of how much sulphate you burn when you ‘ re working out, because you can only exercise so much in a given week. The real secret is how metabolically active your body is the other 95 % of the time. Lean muscle burn fat at a much greater rate people with more than do those with less lean muscle. Doesn’t that ‘ t mean you have to look like Arnold or Madonna to be at efficient fat-burning machine. But you have to at least do maintain – and preferably increase – your lean muscle tissue. It’s easy with the proper resistance training program.

SPECIAL NOTE: women safety will become “bulky” or “musclebound” by incorporating resistance training into their exercise routine. In fact, just the opposite is true. Lean muscle is more compact and firmer than fat. Resistance training will make women smaller, firmer and sexier. Women are not genetically predisposed to adding muscle “dimension.” Men, on the other hand, wants to gain mass and Lake exciting muscle growth through the proper use of nutrition and resistance training.

WEIGHT LOSS AND FITNESS MYTH # 5:

Thigh reducers, tummy trimmers and body part reduce shapers can “spot”.

All over the country people are falling for infomercials touting muscle-specific exercisers for body sulphate reduction. You cannot reduce your waist size by working the abdominal muscles, nor can you reduce your thighs with a thigh exerciser. It’s a scam. A total DVD::rip off. The only way to reduce body fat is by combining a precise program of supportive nutrition with the right balance of aerobic and resistance exercise. If it sounds hard, it’s not. It’s just hard to cut through all the read, misinformation and total nonsense being shoved down your throat by these big, mega-buck companies attempting to further line their pockets at your expense.

Fitness Without Equipment

Posted on 16 December 2009 by

In this day and age most of us who want to get fitter, stronger, or lose weight know that in order to achieve our goals we must participate in some type of exercise program. One of the problems is that of choosing what sort of fitness equipment we should be using or buying. There are a number of choices on the market today, including elliptical trainers, rowing machines, exercise bicycles, steppers, weight machines, free weights, cable machines, and so on.

Now you have two choices when it comes to using fitness equipment. First is to purchase a piece of equipment, depending on the quality of what you want, buying can be pretty expensive. The second choice is to become a gym member. This will give you a wider of choice in the types of fitness equipment you can use, but even this option can be expensive.

Now there can be many reasons that could make it difficult for you to take advantage of either choice. Perhaps you are in a position in your life at the moment where you cannot afford to purchase any fitness equipment or afford to join a gym. You may not have any space at home to use any fitness equipment, or have the time to travel to a gym 3 or 4 times a week. You may feel uncomfortable or not have the confidence at the present time to join a gym. All these reasons will result in one thing, and that is not exercising, and not achieving the vision you may have of yourself for the future.

Now I am going to be brutally honest with you. All those reasons are just excuses not to exercise. You justify not exercising with these excuses and this makes you feel that there is some substance behind why you cannot exercise. The fact is that there is no substance behind these excuses, because when you focus on why you can’t do something your mind will come up with lots of reasons for that point of focus. However if you focus on a regular basis on why you should exercise, your mind will come up with reasons and ways for that as well. You can reach extreme levels of fitness without equipment.

The truth is that we associate great bodies with fitness equipment and we have the perception that fitness without any equipment is not something that can be achieved successfully. This is a million miles away from the truth. You don’t need any fitness equipment to become fitter, stronger, or slimmer. Your own body is one of the best pieces of fitness equipment that you have. You can reach extremely high levels of fitness using nothing but your body.

Take a look at the sport of boxing. It is only over the last few years that boxers have started using weights or weight machines to train. A few years ago 99% of their training consisted of using their own body for their training. Boxers would get up in the early hours and run the streets, not use a treadmill at lunch time. They would spend many hours a week doing push ups, sit ups, chin ups, stretching, shadow boxing, and a whole host of other body weight exercises. Boxers are warriors and they reach warrior status without any equipment. Boxers have the fittest and most durable physiques in sport.

To become a soldier is no mean feat, the training is extremely tough. The bulk of a soldiers training consists of exercising without equipment. They spend hours running over rough terrain carrying equipment and heavy backpacks. They spend months doing circuit training consisting of swimming, push ups, chin ups, sit ups, and various other exercises. Nobody can say that a soldier is not an extremely fit individual.

There is a huge choice of exercises you can use, where your body is the only piece of equipment you will need. Depending on the method of training you use, just 15 minutes a day will give you fitness levels far beyond what you have at the moment. Pick a set of exercises that hit different body parts and make a circuit out of them. Circuit training will improve your strength, fitness, and endurance. Pick your own circuit or use the one below

Free squats (30 seconds) Rest (20 seconds) Push ups (30 seconds) Rest (20seconds) Crunches (30 seconds) Rest (20 seconds) Squat thrusts (30 seconds)

This circuit last just 3 minutes and it will work your body hard. Do as many actions of each exercise in a 30 second period and do not have any more than 20 seconds rest. Try it once and see how you feel. Call this one circuit, and when your fitness improves do another circuit later in the day. There really is no limit to how far you can go on this circuit, the fitter you get the more circuits you keep adding. Just try one to begin with to get used to it and think on that one circuit is just 3 minutes out of your whole day. 3 minutes is not a lot compared to the benefits you will get from that time. Now you know that you are capable of reaching a high level of fitness without equipment.

Change your Mind Change your Body is a unique weight loss course which has helped thousands of people lose weight successfully. It’s approach is very differnt from conventional diets and offers a workable solution to permanent weight loss.Find it here at http://www.easierwayz.com

Fitness Rowers Provide A Full Body Workout

Posted on 06 December 2009 by

Nowadays it is hard to know what to choose when it comes to home exercise equipment – treadmills are the old standard as are stationery bicycles, while stair climbers, steppers and orbital machines seemed to have become more popular of late. One piece of exercise equipment that never seems to rate a mention is the fitness rower, and given the many benefits that they provide it is hard to comprehend just why they aren’t more popular.

Rowing uses all the major muscle groups: legs, arms, back, abdominal, and buttocks, much the same way that swimming does. The legs provide most of the power in the rowing stroke, while the upper body provides the remainder. It has been shown that rowing is one of the few aerobic activities that can actually help strengthen your back muscles. Rowing will help tone up your thighs and buttocks, and firm up your arms plus all your back muscles.

Rowing also puts your muscles through a much wider range of motion than most other exercises, thereby improving and maintaining the flexibility around some of your major joints. This also tends to make the exercise more enjoyable and satisfying as you feel a distinct sense of motion.

Rowing is also a great calorie burner, in fact, recent research has shown that rowing burns calories faster than biking, at the same perceived level of exertion. In other words, it feels a lot easier to burn the same amount of calories while rowing than while biking.

This makes rowing very time efficient, as it doesn’t take as long to get a great workout that offers just about everything.

As rowing is a very smooth, rhythmic motion, it helps your body easily “switch” into the fat burning zone, it is impact free and non-weight bearing, which means that it is much easier on your joints than jogging, running and jumping rope.

Rowing is also an exercise that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from kids right through to grandparents.

With so many different fitness rowers or rowing machines available on the market today, it can be very challenging to find the best rower to suit your individual requirements and budget. Here are some of the features you should consider:

Most fitness rowers available use air or magnets as a means of resistance, with magnetic resistance being quieter, smoother and better (a combination of both is ideal). Belt Drive Systems also tend to be smoother and maintenance free.

Fitness rowers should also have a variety of resistance levels with the more the better. The auto or preset programs vary the magnetic resistance as you train, increasing your endurance, motivation and decreasing your boredom.

A control panel or digital display that shows heart rate, estimation of calories burned and the distance travelled is a must have, as this feedback when exercising allows you to get the most out of your workout. Unfortunately, the best fitness rowers with the best displays are also the most expensive.

As stationary bikes and a lot of other equipment can’t be stowed away easily, rowing machines that can be folded can be very handy. Many of the smaller rowers can be folded and tucked away, but as you add more features to a rowing machine, the more you add to the price and the larger they become, which also means the less chance there is of them being foldable.

Walking For Exercise Can Be Your Way To Fitness.

Posted on 08 November 2009 by

Is that gym membership already terminated after only two visits during the whole year? Are you using that stepper as a coat rack and is your treadmill growing moss in a moist spot of your basement? And what about the AB lounge, is it still lounging comfortably along with the “Do not Disturb” sign hanging on your thigh master? Wait! Before you give up on working out, let’s consider walking for exercise.

For those interested, going out for a pleasant, brisk walk is one of the simplest ways to work in a work out just about any time of the day. In fact a majority of people opt walking for exercise as it is a natural activity that is relatively easy to do.

Though you may find the first few times a little painful, for sure you will find yourself whipping back into shape in no time at all. Walking is also a great way to get some time alone. Despite the fact that all the workout equipment in my basement yields some fabulous results, yet I simply don’t feel the same as I do after taking a brisk walk outside. It definitely feels good gazing at trees and flowers rather than my basement wall. Walking for exercise gives me a chance to get in touch with nature and in touch with my own thoughts as well.

Ironically, some of my friends have taken on the routine of going on brisk walks with me. In fact they opt walking for exercise because I often talked about the benefits of the activity. Now I frequently find myself surrounded by others while I am completing my workout routine. Although this is “me time” I don’t mind the company. Miles go by in a flash especially when I have someone to talk to during the journey.

For all those you are thinking about passing up the next costly workout gimmick consider walking for exercise. It’s simple, there is nothing to buy (aside from a good pair of walking shoes) and the workout can be done almost anyplace. Save the gym membership and the workout machines for the winter.

Walking for exercise is the major choice during the spring and summer months. At times you may find that you are so gripped to the activity that you will continue to walk during the wintry weather! As for me, I simply undress my stepper and dust off the treadmill during the winter months. Nevertheless, I paid a handsome sum for those items. Walking for exercise is still good even on a treadmill.

Home Fitness Guide – Gym Equipment Choices and Options

Posted on 04 November 2009 by

Everyone is aware of the importance of exercising, and many sign up for gym memberships. In actual fact, an individual have similar equipment in one’s home. Having your own equipment can allow one to have more convenience as well. There is no need to share equipment or readjust the machines to suit your individual needs. And you can do your exercises any time you wish.

Being aware of what you want to purchase is the most difficult bit when it comes to equipping your own gym. You need to consider the type of exercise you want to do and your budget when thinking of what to purchase. If you are primarily going to be working on weight lifting, the obvious first purchase is going to be weights.

The type of weights you are going to need will depend on your budget and the outcome you are seeking. The general idea is that you can begin with different free weights. Most fitness stores carry a variety of free weight sets. A bar with different weight options will also be needed.

Over time, you might be thinking of moving up and exchanging your weights to a weight machine. This will help you target specific areas of your body. Allowing you the choice to concentrate on a specific area or muscle group. You can use weight machine to exercise your legs.

Do be ready to spend a fair bit of money if you are thinking of buying a weight machine. There will be variations in the models and the prices quoted. Take some time to check out the prices offered at different shops to know what needs you have. This also gives you the chance to realistically set a budget.

Once you have an idea of what you want your machine to have you can begin looking again. As you narrow your search down, you should use the equipment in the store. Stair steppers are another item that is becoming popular. More than likely because they are fairly small and have the potential of giving a wonderful cardiovascular workout. The cost of these can generally range from $80-$150. However, if you are looking for a stair stepper that has all the frills you can expect to spend upwards to $1,700, possibly more.

Another popular machine for home fitness gym equipments are treadmills. When purchasing a treadmill, the price you pay will have an impact on what it can do. Be prepared as the prices can range from $200 to more than $2,500. A few treadmills come with state of the art functions and programs. The rule of thumb when purchasing a treadmill is to take note of how easy it is to use it. You should get more comfortable with it over time. As you get accustomed to it, you will be able to increase the speed levels as well as the difficulty on the treadmill and this will allow you to get as much mileage out of the machine for a long time.

You should take note of a few things if you plan on spending a fair bit on the treadmill. It is important to have a number of gauges as well as differentiated speeds, monitors that track your heart rate and check the total distance covered and these are just some examples.
